What you need to know for Saturday morning for the Fun Run

The Orca K-8 Fun Run/Walk is this Saturday, April 6!  Bring your friends and family to form a team… everyone is welcome!  Please consider alternate forms of transportation to get to Seward Park.  Parking is limited. If you do drive, the closest parking is the south east parking lot.  Registration starts at 9:20, and the run itself will start 10:00 sharp. (Please allow time to park and register)  The route is from Shelter 2 to the turnaround point at North Beach and back again. Kindergartners and younger are welcome to use wheels.  Mr. Fred will be waiting at the turnaround point to stamp hands and offer encouragement. Make sure to enjoy water, bagels, fruit, and music spun by DJ Mr. Anthony at the finish line! The event will be held rain or shine, so dress appropriately.  Get geared up for awesome puddle jumping!

Registration / Bib Pickup
There will be three separate registration tables.  Each table will be handing out bib numbers and two (2)safety pins to secure to the front of your shirt.

(1) Friends and Family Donation Registration
Friends and family or other community members who want to make a tax deductible donation to Orca will register here. We’ll be able to take donations using cash, checks, or credit cards.  There is a $5-15 suggested donation per participant.

(2) Orca Student Registration
Orca students register at the Orca Student registration table. We’ll have a clipboard there for each class. Students will get their bibs, then write down their name and bib number on their classroom sign-in sheet. (This is so we can track participation when awarding prizes). Students can also hand in fundraising envelopes here if they haven’t yet given them to their teachers.  Homeroom teachers can also sign in here and will get double credit for your class/grade participation goal!

(3) Express Registration
Friends and family (non-Orca students) who have already made a donation can go to the Express Registration table, where they’ll be issued a bib.
Road ID Drawing
Each bib has an attached raffle ticket. Tear it off and throw it in the bucket at the registration table to be eligible for a $15 gift certificate towards a Road ID bracelet (drawing held after the race, you need to be present to win).

“Ask Me” Volunteers On Saturday morning there will be volunteers with a name sticker that says “Ask Me”.  They will have answers to all of your pre run/walk questions.

Water Bring your water bottles if you want water  during the run/walk.  There will be water at the beginning and end of the run/walk but is not provided en route.

T-shirts The shirts have been a hot commodity around the school.  There will be some for sale but sizes and colors are limited.

If you have other commitments and can’t make it for the whole time, come and leave as it suits you.  There will be lots of festivities before and after the run that you won’t want to miss!

Remember your costumes too!
